Tony, If you haven't yet found a resolution to your issue can you submit a copy of your setup script? It may also make sense to check the contents of your archive file (if you're using compression) and see if any of the Microsoft MSVC* DLL's snuck into the distributable version. As a testing step, do you get any different behavior if you run your program as an administrator (if you have UAC enabled)? You can also set PY2EXE_VERBOSE=1 in your environment which will provide some extra feedback as py2exe imports various modules. As a last step, it may be worthwhile to try the source version of py2exe as retrieved from svn. I know there are significant improvements there, including 64-bit bundled file support. I believe Thomas was working on a new release with the updates.
