Dear Colleagues,

I'm having a problem apparently in the look of my banner after using newer versions of putty-nd, as you can see below the pre banner message is misconfigured could someone give me a help about what this could be?

Could it be because @ is a special character and needs scape?

As can be seen I tested on older versions of putty and we don't have these features when I test on a newer version this issue appears.

It can be, and I need to have a check.
Recently, I merged the newest putty source code, which may bring in the issue.

Hi there,
It is the new stripctrl.c in putty, outputting the characters on every banner line start and end.
There is no option to disable it, so I just commented it out as in the attachment.

If everything is fine, it will be released in next release.

Sorry for the delay, I tested it here and accessing via telnet solved it as can be seen in the attached image, now via ssh when I log in with the user or program it just unexpectedly closes.

Another question is as we have user with using conventional putty , I would have to notify them for this fix tb right ?

Hi there, do you mean it crashes via ssh?
If yes, would you please help to run it again with the debug version as the attachment?
It will generate a crash dump file, would you please send it back to me for further investigation?

The conventional putty, I do know. The extra characters look like some debug logs, maybe I just merged them while they will be removed in the next release version?

Exactly this, via telnet everything is fine, via ssh when I type the user and when displaying the banner the prompt characters are not displayed.

The file does not generate another file with a debug it gives the error indicated in the attachment

Hi there, would you please try again with the attachment. In the previous file, I made 1000 times to the column when showing the banner message and then rollback, to ensure the banner message unwrapped. This may bring in the issue. Now, it is set to 160 columns and then rollback.
