There seems to be a bug reading 24 bit sounfiles into arrays with soundfiler. Please see the patch attached. The amplitude values are really high so be careful with the levels!

    your example is missing data. could you provide a (short) soundfile as well?

    i did a small test by converting a given 16bit soundfile to 24bit, loaded both into two tables and compared: both samples are identical....so i don't see a problem

    (this is done in Pd-vanilla 0.43.1, but i don't think this would be any different in PdX)

    According to that thread that you included, Miller said that he fixed the problem. Can you test the latest version? Which version are you using? If its 0.42, that's quite old now.
