Though we are still technically in a pre-Alpha stage, the project is compilable and will show what the project will look like to the end-user. For this reason, I've moved the project into an Alpha stage. We are currently working on tying together the UI and the logic code so that menus will actually do something.
Once we have finalized the loading and saving of XML and tied the menu events to their handlers, then we will be ready to move into a Beta stage.... read more
We now have a mailing list and IRC channel associated with this project. For anyone interested, the mailing list is managed by SF.net and the IRC channel is #publex on the freenode network.
Due to some personal work-related issues, I've been unable to personally work with the project during the week, however, the project does continue to slosh forward... slowly.
We're still looking for interested parties for helping, should anyone be interested. We now have a developer mailing list, and are working on an IRC channel on freenode.net.
Well, it's that time of year again when we're all trying to settle down from the frantic last-minute shopping, visiting family, and cursing at our radios for playing Jingle Bell Rock for the 20th time today. So what does this mean? It means less than a week before we look forward to staying up all night, partying, and totally ignoring the fact that we'll wake up the /AFTERNOON/ of New Year's day with *THE* worst hangover of the year (so far).... read more
Several of may know the limitations of Microsoft's XML parser engine in .NET. Due to these limitations another parser had to be chosen for PubleX DE. SAX and Chilkat's XML parser were the first two parsers to be evaluated, and each had their own shortcomings. For this reason, a brief search was in order, and NSGMLS was ultimately chosen for its simplicity and power. Implementation of this parser has yet to be decided, but it has been decided that in which ever form it manifests itself, NSGMLS will be the parser of choice for PDE.
Due to needs beyond the practical scope of using SAX.Net as an XML parser, Chilkat has been chosen as a replacement parser for PubleX DE. Those available positions affected by this will be updated soon to reflect the needs of those people interested in filling those positions.
As of 15 December 2006, PubleX DE is a live project on SourceForge.Net. I hope to have a working concept pre-alpha release available soon for those interested in participation to paruse and evaluate their interests.
