I'm looking for but not finding some kind of signature file to verify the downloaded tar.gz file. e.g MD5 or SHA. I could use a pointer to where it is, or if it does not exist, could the developers consider adding this ?

If you go into the 'files' directory, then to the right of the download file link is an 'i' in a black circle ('information'). Clicking on this will give signatures.

Found it.
If you go into the 'files' directory, then to the right of the download file link is an 'i' in a black circle ('information'). Clicking on this will give signatures.
