ptpd2.3.0 rpm has a sample configuration file for the slave. But can someone please post a config file for following topology? :

    1) ptpd slave is run to sync time from a Symmetricom S350. In the same server We need to run a ptpd master process to send the time downstream to other slaves.

    2) In a server, we are running ntp to sync local time (instead of the symmetricom S350). In the same server We need to run a ptpd master process to send the time downstream to other slaves.

    3) Is there any formal documentation, other than the help page for detailed explanation of the all kinds of parameters?
    Thanks

    1. Ptpd doesn't support multiple ports. You will need to run two PTPd processes, each with a different config file and each with a different lock file, so there is no collisions. One process will run in master-only mode (on the downstream interface), the other in slave-only mode (on the upstream interface towards the S350).
    2. Ntpd controls the local clock, ptpd in master mode serves time from local clock. You don't need anything specific, just run ptpd with the "master only" preset.
    3. Unfortunately not; we will be working on a FAQ first, but we have no proper documentation yet apart from the manual pages.
