Please tell me how I can rotate portrait images so that they do not appear on sheets sideways.

  Images are only by CSX if the 'Rotate for Best Fit' setting is selected on the Thumbnail Layout panel. If your image is being rotated with this setting turned off, the image may have a 'rotate' setting in it's metadata that Photoshop is not picking up on. Post (or email me) an image with this problem and I'll check into it.
