I did all this and had the same problem. The log file shows the newer=20
version of xcolor. Also, the test for xcolor2.tex fails the same way -

! Undefined control sequence.

The other two tests xcolor1.tex and xcolor3.tex  succeed. xcolor2.tex=20
is the only one that uses pstricks.

I have, however, found that I can run prosper from a unix window=20
bypassing TexShop. I also found a message from a few years ago that=20
says that TexShop does not work with prosper although I thought that I=20=

ran across a more recent message saying that the newer version of=20
TexShop had fixed that problem. I would prefer to use TexShop (if=20
anyone out there knows how to fix the problem that I am having) but can=20=

live with running it at the Unix level on my machine.
