Hi there I am Pi-Grandpa Forum-Newbee I am struggling to get ProjectM to work on a Pi. I saw some youtube clips showing this might work. So far I have tried VLC, Clementine, QmmP to no avail. I read somewhere that pulseaudio might support ProjectM But when I issue: sudo apt-get install projectm-pulseaudio I get an error: No install candidate .... Anybody has an idea if it is possible to get ProjectM working on a Pi ?? Possibly any how2 guide available ?? best regards Gunter
I think the project moved to github: https://github.com/projectM-visualizer if you did not find yet maybe some1 will find this helpful regards, Chris
Hi Newbie here. I can download the file, but it doesn't look right. Can't extract it. Thanks
Now using GT-730 (fanless) instead of GTS-250.
Hi, where exactly is the config I got /~/.projectM/config.inp or /~/.config/projectM/qprojectM.conf as options and if first is right is the duration actually taken into consideration? Because I set it to 55 sekonds but it is switching way faster regards Chris

Not looking for enhancements. I have two machine, desktop and laptop. The desktop is a pulse server and the laptop connects, so all audio is routed through pulse on the main rig. After a rebuild of my rig, including new MB (and so new audio H/W), ProjectM on the laptop doesn't seem to hear the audio, and just plays generic presets in a generic manner. Easy enough to fix, except whilst M pops up the preset menu, the top menu bar is missing. A reinstall hasn't helped. So how do I either get the top...

Hi, My desktop, bought in 2009 -- but have evolved to be : - Motherboard ASRock P55-Pro (not the USB3 version, the older one), BIOS P2.20 [unchanged] - CPU I7-880 @ 3.07GHz (4 cores, 8 threads) [was I5-750] - RAM 4x4GB (full) [was 2x2GB] - PCI-E v2 16x, GFX NVIDIA GTS-250 1GB @ 16x, nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver 340.106-2~deb9u1 [bought new one a few days ago] - IDE Hitachi HDP72505 500GB (ext4 : /, /home, 32GB swap) [was an 1TB lonely SATA disk, changed to an old but still working HD. I have this problem too in Debian 9 "Stretch" 64b. I searched and installed "libqtexengine1", the only thing I found in Synaptic, that is related to QPainter. After closing and re-running ProjectM-pulseaudio, it's still the same : many lines about "QPainter not active", etc, in the terminal.

I don't believe that the developers of projectM included that feature. It's easy to be idealistic and think of projectM as "Milkdrop for Mac"—but, sadly it isn't!
@DaveP. I'm with you man! I would really SO love to see a fully working version of this. I'm about to check the iTunes version.... It's been a while since I checked here. I've got my fingers crossed for full support of Milkdrop v2 presets—specifically support for pixel shaders v2. Shaders are crucial for all of my favorite presets. So, far I've never seen them supported by a working version of projectM. I mean the presets play without throwing an error or crashing the app, but all you see is black...
Thanks again amoe! You're very helpful!!! So, I just noticed the evidence of one of the errors in this code... In the penultimate line of quoted code of Dimitris' last post, which reads: No Textures Loaded from "/usr/local"/share/projectM/textures Notice the quotation mark is out of place. This (among other errors) has to be fixed before compiling the code because that incorrect path (if I'm not mistaken) is integrated into the code and creates a problem which can't be properly circumvented because...

@trademark91 (not that this is still on your radar; but for anyone who may stumble upon this, in response to your query...) First of all, regarding the "screenshots" you mentioned. I've come to the conclusion that they are screenshots of MilkDrop running in WinAmp, (some of) which they have modified by overlaying their logo or something. Basically, this project is crap! I've devoted multiple days trying to get this working as the developers claim it does, but without success... (this is a number...
If the lack of response didn't answer that for you, take a look at the last time they actually posted new/modified code! There ain't sh★t happening here...
Hi all, I tried using the standalone visualizer with Soundflower and it didn't work. I set my Mac's output audio source to Soundflower (actually a multi-output device, Soundflower and my bluetooth headphones). Anyway, in the ProjectM visualizer, the Soundflower audio source showed but when I selected the audio source, ProjectM wasn't picking it up. Any ideas?

How do you load custom .milk files in IOS? Thanks.
Thanks amoe, I'll read some Milkdrop guides and experiment using the included presets as a template for making some new ones suited more to the "oldies" that we typically play for. :)
Hi Chris. The presets are written using the Milkdrop preset language. As you've seen, many presets are included. You can write your own -- there are many guides available on the internet, some from quite some time ago. Search for "milkdrop preset authoring guide". The actual development of presets will need a bit of experimentation, you can look at the existing presets for some examples. It's pretty simple to make a basic preset that reacts to the music.
Hi there, I've installed ProjectM on KXStudio (an Ubuntu derivative) - its working perfectly. I wish to project the visualizer through haze to light my band and the dancefloor at gigs we play. Most of the existing effects are too jittery and manic, and sometimes have a white background, they don't project very well - we're a covers band that play easy listening through to rock and funk for slightly older audiences, so I'm looking for help in learning how to create less manic more colorful effects...
The ubuntu install guide is; https://help.ubuntu.com/community/projectM But I think because I installed the plugin first, and later Amarok, like in the guide, the plugin does not show up in Amarok, or am I halucinating?
