[project-open-localization] translation of Timesheet into Spanish

Hi, this message is mainly for Spanish-spoken people.
I'm Spanish spoken, but I'm not sure how to translate "timesheet" into
business formal Spanish. My best proposal is to translate it as "Horas" (for
timesheet tab) or "Horas de trabajo" (for page titles).
A timesheet is literally a "hoja de tiempos", what is traditionally related
with "Fichajes" or when an employee get in/out to work. In that way, I think
there is no a short way to translate it into Spanish, with a formal business
word.

A client of mine uses "AMHO" which stands for "Monthly Activity in Hours"
(in Spanish: Actividad Mensual por HOras). But I'm not sure if it is an
"internal" word.

What do you think?... is "Horas" the right translation?


PS: Maybe I should post also in Sourceforge forum to reach to more
Spanish-spoken people....

Hi Miguel,

I agree with you entirely. My translation was "Hoja de tiempos" so far, 
but this was for internal use, and all the members of our team know what 
is meant with this term. The term I was about to use is "Hoja de control 
de tiempos", which is rather related with "Métodos y tiempos" 
(Production Planning) but I think fits in here.
"Hoja de control de tiempos" is obviously too long for the menu tabs.
"Horas" and "Horas de trabajo" (or "Horas trabajadas") is fine in my 
oppinion.

BTW Are you translating locally? I have my own Spanish version of the 
user interface (have been using it since 2005), and it would be great if 
we could coordinate/merge our translations.

MY CONTEXT
I'm developing locally for a customer, and I hope I can finish on time to
get it together with the ]po[ 3.4 final version in september / october. I
need a better Spanish translation than the current one.

HOW I'M DOING:
What I'm doing is (as my first option) translating directly in l10n server (
http://l10n.project-open.net/), so I try to make translations only when I'm
sure that they are correct :) (I use to try locally the hard ones, and then
update de l10n server). I'm reviewing timesheet now. I'm interested in
workflow too, maybe I could check it in a few weeks, although I've
translated the most obvious words, I'm not 100% sure they are the best
translations.

It would be great If we can agree with a generic translation so that we can
update the l10n server to share with everyone in the next ]po[ version.

TIMESHEET TAB:
"Horas" might be the best (short) translation for Timesheet.

PAGE TITLE:
IMO, for page titles we don't need "hoja" word, so it could be "Control de
tiempos" or "Horas trabajadas" itself.
