Hi! Localization starts for V4.0. Would you like to be part of this? If so, please answer to this mail with your target language(s) and whether you'd prefer to act as a "Translator" or "Editor" (see below). The time effort is about two days for the translator and the editor, split about 50%/50% between actual translation work and discussing translations. Reward for Localization: As a reward, we will list all participants of successfully localized languages in: http://www.project-open.org/en/list_languages You can also add this translation project as a reference on your Web site. Time Frame: The translation + editing process should be finished on April 15th, so that we still have time to prepare our various installers. Languages not finished on the 15 won't be included. Language Teams: This time we would like to organize the translation work into "teams" for each language. If possible, we would like to find the following team members: - Translator: The main responsible for translation and also the team lead. - Editor: A different person from the translator who is in charge of critically questioning the translations. - Partner or Customers: We'll try to get a ]po[ partner or customer for every language who could do some final checking etc. This partner probably won't have much experience translating, but will hopefully know the terminology... We'll setup Skype or GoToMeeting conference calls for each language team once we have received your replies on who wants to participate. In the ConfCall we'll decide who will take which role, if there are multiple candidates. Translation Workflow: We would propose the following workflow for the actual translation: 1. Terminology Review: The team gets together and reviews the "terminology", checks if the translations are OK and fixes consistency issues. 2. In-Context Translation: We will provide a list of URLs that the translator should visit in "translation mode", check the current translation and update any missing translations. 3. Bulk-Translation: Translate any missing strings using the ]po[ "bulk" translation function. 4. In-Context Editing: The Editor would visit the same list of URLs and take down questions in an Excel sheet. 5. Discussion: Translator and Editor get together and discuss the questions taken down by the editor. We have prepared a localization server for you at http://l10n.project-open.net/ where you can login as bbigboss@tigerpond/ben at the moment. We will create administrator accounts for you as soon as the teams are confirmed. We will also prepare a list of URLs for you for context translation.
