Hi, We've been working in the last weeks to prepare the localization efforts for ]po[ and asking around informally, we have received a surprising number of replies from ]po[ users and partners (you!) telling us that you are interested to participate in the localization of ]po[. In order to coordinate the efforts we've followed the standard path of open-source projects and have set up a mailing list and a Wiki to share information between the team, plus we have designated a localization manager to coordinate the efforts. I hope this mail addresses the most important points that you need for proceeding with your localization work. If not, please use the mailing list below to ask your questions. Please don't be shy! Prio #1 - The Mailing List: We've set up a specific localization mailing list at SourceForge: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/project-open-localization Please subscribe yourself to this list if you want to work on ]po[ localization. This is also the place to ask questions or for getting support. Extended L10n Page With Instructions: Richard Thiemann has updated the ]po[ localization page with content from the former PO-Configuration-Guide. Please checkout: www.project-open.org/documentation/developers_localization This page will (hopefully!) answer most of your questions regarding the L10n. Again, for questions/comments please post to the mailing list. Localization Coordination: Michael Menzel has offered his help to coordinate the localization efforts for ]po[. Michael is a professional translator and co-owner at www.Eurotransmit.com, a translation agency in Barcelona. He's using ]po[ sind about 4 years to run his own business and has been a long time supporter in the SourceForge forum. Michael has offered to answer your questions in the L10n mailing list. Localization Server: We've set up a special server for localizers: http://l10n.project-open.net Please contact Michael (below), Klaus and myself for administration rights on this server. We will take all translations from this server for the V3.4 release. For questions please mail to the mailing list. ]po[ Wiki Update Permissions: We can provide all active ]po[ localizers with write permissions to the ]po[ Wiki, so that you can edit your language pages and your company page. Please send an email to me or to Klaus. Timeline & Deadline: The timeline for the ]po[ release is mid-September 2009. However, we will probably have to "close" the window for translations at the end of August already. Languages with heavily incomplete translations at that moment won't be included in the list of "officially" supported ]po[ languages. Next Steps: The next step from our side will be the actual release of "V3.4 Alpha 1". After that we're going to send out an email to the ~7.000 users subscribed at ]po[ to inform them about the release schedule. We will mention this localization group in the email, so we expect to see some extra interest at that point. For any questions/suggestions for this mail please use the mailing list. Again, thanks a lot for your interest! Frank --- Frank Bergmann Dipl.-Ing., MBA Managing Director ]project-open[ Tel: +34 933 250 914 Cell: +34 609 953 751 Fax: +34 932 890 729 |
