http://bugs.proftpd.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2487 ------- Additional Comments From to...@st... 2004-10-13 15:02 ------- I am on FreeBSD 5.2.1, using an NIS domain and running version 1.2.9 (not 1.2.10rc3 as in this bug report) and I am experiencing the exact same issue. PersistentPasswd off AuthPAMAuthoritative off I've tried both of those directives in my proftpd.conf file with no luck. No matter what I still get a bad password. I've researched all over the net, and the PersistentPasswd directive SHOULD fix it, but in every case if the person was using FreeBSD eventually the user gave up and used a different FTP server. There is some validity to this bug report, even if the cause isn't correct. Here are some log excerpts: First my extended log: localhost UNKNOWN nobody [13/Oct/2004:13:48:59 +0000] "USER numbski" 331 - localhost UNKNOWN nobody [13/Oct/2004:13:49:01 +0000] "PASS (hidden)" 530 - localhost UNKNOWN nobody [13/Oct/2004:13:49:03 +0000] "QUIT" 221 - ...and auth.log Oct 13 13:36:33 zeus proftpd[9409]: zeus.stg-stl.net (localhost[127.0.0.1]) - USER numbski (Login failed): Incorrect password. This is after verifying that the username was indeed correct, login to the console was successful and ssh was successful. If I add the user back to the local system, login is successful, but if I remove the local user and add them to the NIS domain, you get a password failure. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. |
