This is a good idea, ideally for every route carrier the actual number to be dialled (i.e. the translated number) should be returned. However this is going to make the return message a bit more difficult to deliver. Also there is reason to do more generic number translation, like in the calling card service: when the caller dials a number, we want that number to be in different formats for different agents possibly and a way of translation to the number format used for billing... a message like: TRANSLATEADDRESS address=0845123456 sourceformat=UK destformat=carrier carrier=carrrier_1 should return: translated_number=448456203031 Something like this, anyway.
