Hi all,

The AKSW research group [1] is pleased to announce that OntoWiki 0.8.5 is 
now available for download. OntoWiki is a web-application enabling the 
collaborative creation of RDF knowledge bases. More information about 
OntoWiki can be found at:

Changes in this release include

   * A plug-in and event architecture
   * A file / document manager
   * Rest webservices for login / query / export databases
   * WebDAV support for browsing and exporting resources
   * A new JSON exporter that uses the RDF JSON spec draft from talis
   * New Plugins: Semantic Sitemap and Container Manager

as well as a bunch of bug fixes.

The project developement site moved from SourceForge to GoogleCode [2]. 
More detailed information about this OntoWiki update is available at the

Hi all,

The AKSW research group [1] is pleased to announce that OntoWiki 0.8 is 
now available for download. OntoWiki is a web-application enabling the 
collaborative creation of RDF knowledge bases.
More information about OntoWiki can be found at:

Changes in this release include:

  * A complete new default theme with a smarter HTML structure and
    a desktop like style with windows and menus [2]
  * Statement based access control (still experimental) [3]
  * Improved RDF/XML exporter for resources and models
  * Support for hidden classes
  * Several GUI enhancements (see a complete list in the changelog [4])

Additionally, we have released the second version of our OntoWiki 
Command Line Interface (owcli) [5]. owcli is a php-based command line 
tool to administrate and manipulate OntoWiki knowledge bases.
Changes in release 0.2 include:

  * Support for SPARQL queries (table and graph output)
  * bash autocompletion
  * New commands for content subscriptions, geocoding and much more

[Powl-releases] Powl release 0.93

This is the first Powl release after a while. Currently a larger R&D 
project is started which bases on Powl, so we hope to provide releases 
in future more frequently (approx. every 2-3 months).

Changes include:
- Bugfixes
- Many API functions added
- PHP 5.x compatibility
- RAP 0.93 included
- Prepared for alternative OntoWiki user interface

[Powl-releases] ANN: Powl 0.9 - Semantic Web application development framework in PHP

This new release of the development framework for Semantic Web=20
applications - Powl - includes significant performance improvements, an=20
ID column has been added to the statements table (existing SQL stores=20
have to be altered). A class InstanceSearch for semantic enhanced=20
full-text search on instances has been added to the API, as well as an=20
initial alpha version of a Semantic Cache, further the user interface=20
was translated to Polish (thanx to Patryk Burek).
Version 0.9 was just published and may be downloaded from the
SourceForge project page: http://sf.net/projects/powl .

Features include:

    * Support for viewing, editing of RDFS/OWL ontologies.
    * Sophisticated widgets for data editing.
    * Questioning the knowledge base with RDQL (query builder) or=20
full-text search.

    * Object oriented API.
    * Versioning. All edits of a knowledge base may be logged and rolled=20
back.
    * Scalability. Models are stored in database tables and only those=20
parts of the model are loaded into main memory which are actually edited.
    * Multi language support.
    * Easy deployment.

Powl 0.75 resolves bugs and introduces minor new features and=20
enhancements. Some of them were requested and inspired by first medium=20
scale Powl application projects.

Detailed list of changes:

Hierarchies of instances (according to a self referring property) of a=20
class are detected and presented accordingly in the instance list
Model statistics shows count with and without imported=20
triples/classes/properties/instances
System ontology divided into system ontology and system ontology schema=20
for easier pOWL updates
Literal editor added
Popups save their window size
Widgets for editing arbitrary nodes and literals (including language and=20
datatype) added
The instance overview can now be filtered by empty property values
Search in instance lists added
Tooltip style changed
Instance editor selectively shows only properties with values
class::listinstancepropertyvalues($property) lists all distinct values=20
of $property assigned to instances of a class

[Powl-releases] Frist pOWL Beta Version 0.5 Released

Dear pOWL user,

Unfortunately release V 0.4 contained a bug preventing a proper=20
automated installation under certain circumstances.
V 0.5 was just released and this and some other bugs as well are solved=20
and additional features added:

* RDQL query builder integrated
* Display of nodes in RDF-Triples and RDQL results improved
* RDFSAPI, OWLAPI completition, clean-up and documentation updates
* RDFAPI patched for support of larger models
* Widgetselection and configuration improved

[Powl-releases] FASD project: Online survey launched

Dear Open Source developer

I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate.
You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it.

With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development.

[Powl-releases] Last pOWL Release Before Beta Cycle

This is the third release of pOWL, which targets to become a web based
semantic web development platform.
Lots of features are added as well as bugs fixed:

- Interactive documentation with tooltips and a documentation frame
integrated in the UI
- Versioning on RDF statement basis implemented
- Loading of imported ontologies
- Automatic model importing from SchemaWeb.info
- Basic editing of OWL class and property axioms
- Basic editing OWL class descriptions
- Editing of OWL individual identity
- Many bugfixes

Top priority for the next release which is expected to be published in 3
weeks have:

- Implementation of user authorization and preference management
- Versioning on a higher level than tracking inserts and deletes of RDF
statments.

Thereafter pOWL will be more or less feature complete and thus ready for
the beta cycle.
