The section I am planning to write there is how to report the mailbox owner that they are reaching their quota. maildrop does handle the quota by default. As you can see in my howto I did setup the quota field in the database, and it's also used in authdaemon. That combo makes maildrop consider the quota automagically. > ill try man maildrop, if problems i come back , ok ? > marko Sure. > > > > Michiel van Baak schrieb: > > On 23:23, Tue 11 Nov 08, Marko Weber wrote: > > > >> ooh , sounds interesting. > >> you have any doku about that how you do the quota with maildrop ? > >> or do you know any good howto, how to implement this in my virtual users > >> / domains setup ? > >> > > > > <shameless > > plug>http://michiel.vanbaak.info/postfixamavismysql.htm</plug> > > > > Read that and if something is unclear read the original document where I > > based my setup on (it's linked in the first chapter of that howto) > > > >> thank you > >> > >> marko > >> > >> > >> > >> Michiel van Baak schrieb: > >> > >>> On 23:14, Tue 11 Nov 08, Marko Weber wrote: > >>> > >>> > >>>> Hello Michiel, > >>>> > >>>> seems postfix is not able to handle quota. > >>>> u got to patch it. but the patch is still not as stable in the packages. > >>>> so , i leave it this way without quota.................... > >>>> and wait for the day that postfix can do quota............ > >>>> > >>>> marko > >>>> > >>>> > >>> Yeah, now I remember. > >>> That's one of the reasons I started looking at maildrop. > >>> Now I use maildrop for delivery. > >>> It handles my quotas and my serverside filters. Hello Michiel, i sent 2 further mails with 4mb attachement no quota warning, mails was delivered to user. is the "multiplier" in the postfixadmin the wrong one ? or is there a setting that MUST be in main.cf of postfix ? marko Michiel van Baak schrieb: > On 17:20, Thu 06 Nov 08, Marko Weber wrote: > >> Hi Michiel, >> i tried your hints. >> but seems not to go with quota. >> >> i send an 11mb mp3 to user and after that an 6mb mp3 >> the quota is set in postfixadmin to 15mb, so it should send a mail that >> quota is reached or not ? >> > > I think it will send the email on the next mail. > 11 mb != quota reached. 6mb = one email so I think it will go through. > Can you test by sending yet another email now that the user is over > quota? > > >> do i have to set any special on postfixadmin config ? >> maybe its the quota multiplier ? >> >> >> in the postfixadmin config for quota is this = >> >> // Default Domain Values >> // Specify your default values below. Hi Michiel, i tried your hints. but seems not to go with quota. i send an 11mb mp3 to user and after that an 6mb mp3 the quota is set in postfixadmin to 15mb, so it should send a mail that quota is reached or not ? do i have to set any special on postfixadmin config ? maybe its the quota multiplier ? in the postfixadmin config for quota is this = // Default Domain Values // Specify your default values below. Quota in MB. $CONF['aliases'] = '15'; $CONF['mailboxes'] = '15'; $CONF['maxquota'] = '15'; // Quota // When you want to enforce quota for your mailbox users set this to 'YES'. $CONF['quota'] = 'YES'; // You can either use '1024000' or '1048576' $CONF['quota_multiplier'] = '1024000'; 10240000 is also in the mysql db as "quota" in the quota field for the mail where i send the mp3´s any ideas ? marko Michiel van Baak schrieb: > On 00:58, Wed 05 Nov 08, Marko Weber wrote: > >> I set this in the postfixadmin config.file = >> >> // Default Domain Values >> // Specify your default values below. In the main postfix configuration you can set the maximum message size. As you can see, the default is 10MB per message. To remove all size limits and let the quota actually apply try setting this in your main.cf and reload postfix: mailbox_size_limit = 0 message_size_limit = 0 virtual_mailbox_limit = 0 Good luck. -- Michiel van Baak mi...@va... http://michiel.vanbaak.eu GnuPG key: http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x71C946BD "Why is it drug addicts and computer aficionados are both called users?" |

Hello, i work in an other project called "Gallery" and we hired a company (http://www.gdssecurity.com) to do a security audit for upcoming Gallery 1.6. They devided the issues into 4 Exposure levels. (1 is highest, 4 is lowest). Username enumaration is categorized as level 3. Issue overview: "... This vulnerability combined with weak passwords and lack of account lockout significantly increases the possibility of account compromise via password guessing attacks." Remediation Prodedure: "The identified components should not return information that can be used to enumerate valud user-ids. Ideally, application repsonses for failed logins and password resets should be identical to prevent unintended username enumeration." You are right, that the user gets a useful information, but also a potential hacker. Hi, all. I was wondering how hard it would be to add additional fields to Postfixadmin. I ask because I'm migrating data from an older mail system which uses a different login from the e-mail address instead of the e-mail address itself. I know I can alter the tables and SQL queries to match in Postfix and Dovecot, but I'm wondering how easy it will be to change stuff within Postfixadmin as well. I'm trying to keep things as transparent to my users as I possibly can so they won't have to do anything. Thanks for any advice anyone may have! --Ian. -- Ian R. Justman UNIX hacker. Anime fan. If not, I think the check_domain function is not allowing you to create this mailaddress. You can set 'emailcheck_resolve_domain' to NO in the configuration file to prevent this from happening. -- Michiel van Baak mi...@va... http://michiel.vanbaak.eu GnuPG key: http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x71C946BD "Why is it drug addicts and computer aficionados are both called users?" |

Hi, all. I am working on prototyping a new mailserver to replace my aging machine which runs a very old package. I will outline the problem I have below on a step-by-step basis: 1. I create tables with the setup script as recommended. 2. It asks for information to define the superadmin account. In this case, I use "pos...@re..." and then set a password. 3. I log in via the super-admin account. 4. I create an e-mail address within the "reisen.intranet.ian-justman.com" domain without a problem. 5. I go to "virtual lists" then create a new domain, call it "test.ian-justman.com". This also happens without incident. 6. I create a new mailbox, "ia...@te..." and give it a password. Program spits an error at me, saying "E-mail is invalid". 7. I try creating an alias in that domain, says "Alias is invalid". 8. I go into the MySQL monitor and manually insert an e-mail address "ia...@te..." into the "mailbox" table with the same format as the entry for "ia...@re...". No biggie here. 9. I go through the Postfixadmin interface. It sees the e-mail just fine. I try to create another mailbox, e.g. for my sister in the "test.ian-justman.com" domain. Same error as before. I've even tried creating an admin in the "test.ian-justman.com" domain to no avail. FYI here: Environment is as follows: FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE Apache 1.3.41 (I have my reasons for using Apache 1.3.x) PHP 4.4.9 (A couple of my clients' sites expect PHP4) MySQL 5.0.67 Postfixadmin 2.2.1.1 At this point, I'm just trying to make sure the web interface works before I figure out how the mailservers are going to work (two of these items sort of needs the other to make working on them worthwhile). However, for what it's worth, here's what I have installed for the mailserver side of the equation: Postfix 2.5.4 Dovecot 1.1.3 All the abovementioned packages are installed from the FreeBSD ports collection. Any ideas? Thanks for any assistance. --Ian. -- Ian R. Justman UNIX hacker. Anime fan. Any questions? ianj (at) ian-justman.com |

Yes; I'd agree. (yeah, I realised I'd committed my u/p in the vacation.pl script, but once it was done I didn't see much point in undoing it) The below is fine by me... Hello, @Michael: postfixadmin-svn is only for commits. If you want to commment on a commit, please send your mail to postfixadmin-devel. I'm forwarding your mail this time. (And sorry for being some days late - we had 4 days "Weinfest" (wine festival) here, so I didn't read my mails for some days.) @Gingerdog: Please see also my comment below. I think there's a better solution than having the configuration inside the script... ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Re: SF.net SVN: postfixadmin:[453] trunk/VIRTUAL_VACATION Date: Sun, August 31 2008 From: Michiel van Baak To: pos...@li...
