There was no answer to my last post I decide to wright again to explain what I been doing. First I need this program working and need your help. I read config and posper files this is my understanding I made a new installation in /home/posper directory in config and posper there his entry PROGRAM_DIR=/opt/posper I copy the directory posper to /opt. Changed the PROGRAM_DIR to =/home/posper in config and and posper Running config Terminal opens with lots of lines and goes out every line is about java. The java on my computer is openjdk version "18.0.2-ea" Running posper two windows open one with Terminal the other with posper screen with a message “Posper found an empty database” etc. I want to use MySQL. You probably have not adapted the startup files posper and config to your needs. Either move your installation files to /opt/posper or adapt the PROGRAM_DIR variable in the posper and config startup files

Thank you for the information. Still having problem with installation. After making posper and config executable start config and run as a program a blue window opens also Terminal window with lines “at java.base/java.lang/Classloader” often a second or two it closes is to quick to be able to read. The version you downloaded is utterly outdated - my bad. I've created a new release. Please start afresh download and follow all instruction in the file readme.txt. While the instructions you found are still valid you might have missed some point like reading the readme.txt setting up the MySQL DB, and running config to configure the database connection (using HSQLDB is not a good idea for production use). OS Ubuntu 22.04 posper-2.2-1029-2013-05-13 Java openjdk version "18.0.2-ea" 2022-07-19 Following “Using POSper/Installation guide” I find neither config or posper work. After "make link" and doubleclick to run POSper opens the file POSper start script. Right Click and Run as a program it flashes a small black window and nothing else. Doubleclick on config it opens the file, Right Click and Run as a program again it just flashes a small black window and nothing else. What am doing wrong? Please help...

Hi Richard, I've activated your account (activation is done manually to avoid spammers and I'm in a different timezone) Please note that currently the POSper version on SourceForge is more up to date (Rel 3.0) than what can be downloaded from the Posper support site (Rel 2.2). Hi We have stock that has a fixed shelf life which we'd like to manange through POSper. But I cant see a date field that I could use. Ideally I'd like to create reports showing stock amount and its expiry date plus number days before the stock expires. We can then manage offers to sell the stock before it expires. Any suggestions gratefully received.
