Hello, I have been using, with no problems, pop b4 smtp, many thanks, on RH7.3, Postfix 2.1, perl v5.6.1 built for i386-linux # /usr/sbin/pop-before-smtp --version version: 1.38 few days ago, I noticed 'server overload' - extremely slow webmail respon= se probing for clues, I saw most of my free memory chewed up, and, numerous 'syslogd' session, numerous 'user apache perl sessions' I eventually killed apache and the system was OK again today, I again got 'heavy load' (though, not as bad as last time) as far as I can tell, user apache perl process was the culprit: # ps wax -o cmd |grep [p]erl /usr/bin/perl -wT /usr/sbin/pop-before-smtp --daemon=3D/var/run/pop-before-smtp.pid how can I indentify whatever is causing this 'runaway' ? BTW, I also have a 'newer' perl build, 5.8.8 ------------------- # cd /usr/local/bin # ls perl* perl perl5.8.6 perl5.8.8 perlbug perlcc perldoc perlivp # ./perl --version This is perl, v5.8.8 built for i686-linux ------------------- does it make sense to edit the 'perl' line in pop-b4-smtp to use the more-recent perl build ? ---------------------------------------------------------- PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND 4368 apache 20 0 3356 3348 1120 R 62.7 0.3 75:48 perl PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND 7099 apache 20 0 3880 3288 1516 R 98.8 0.3 1633m perl --=20 Voytek |
