Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Quiet down guys. Sourceforge is going to start charging us for all the bandwidth we're using for this mailing list. -Mark |

I excised the Timer class and associated things and put it a seperate file. This works fine under Linux because . is in the Python search path. You windows folks will have to tell me if it works under windows too. -Mark |

I made a state diagram of the possible game modes we might have. It's on the pongbat SF web site. The music is also now in MP3 format. They're too big to sanely store in CVS so I made a tarball and put them on the web site. -Mark |

I just figured out why the MOD files sound like ass in pongbat. It seems that SDL_mixer doesn't use the high quality mixer setting of mikmod and there's no way to change it without patching SDL_mixer. Convert to MP3's? (not now, but for pongbat2) -Mark |

While I'd rather not spend a lot of time hashing out Pongbat 2 details, I do think that it'd be prudent to start writing down ideas any of us have for it. I've set up our sourceforge RFE (Request For Enhancement) page to handle pongbat 2 ideas. They can be accessed at: "http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=64852&atid=508901" or by clicking on the "RFE" link on the main project page. If any of you create an entry in this database, be sure to use "pongbat2" as the Group. -- David Ludwig | "The Linux philosophy is laugh in the face of davidl<at>oflove.com | danger. Oops. Wrong One.
