When trying to save a new cocoon sitemap file, It is
impossible to type anything in the filename box of the
dialog. typing an s activates the Save button,
selcting a directory enters the directory name in the
filename box. It is then possible to save the file as
the name of the directory in the directory 'tmp/tmp'
for example.
One feature which would be nice would be to hide all
comments, this would make more of the structure visible

This fault appears to be java related rather than project related. It is caused by having the numeric lock activated on the keyboard. It happens in other java based programs too.
