We will use the wording "Virtual Terminal" for the VMD modelling the HF instrument (ACTIVE ACCESSORY ?!?) or socket (ACTIVE OUTPUT TERMINAL).

TODO: Definition has to be done.

    Suggestion:
A VIRTUAL TERMINAL is an abstraction modelling the ACTIVE ACCESSORY or ACTIVE OUTPUT TERMINAL, respectively, of the HF SURGICAL EQUIPMENT. A VIRTUAL TERMINAL is represented as a VMD in the CONTAINMENT TREE. The network representation of an HF SURGICAL EQUIPMENT MAY contains multiple VIRTUAL TERMINALs.

While drafting an explanation I came to the decision that this text will be too long and complex for a note in the definitions section. Thus, I suggest to put a reference into the note linking to the introductory section of the standard where we describe the two different approaches. Consequently I created a new ticket for this purpose: Ticket [#42]

A VIRTUAL TERMINAL is an abstraction that represents the properties of either an ACTIVE ACCESSORY or an ACTIVE OUTPUT TERMINAL of an HF SURGICAL EQUIPMENT. A VIRTUAL TERMINAL is represented as a VMD in the CONTAINMENT TREE. The network representation of an HF SURGICAL EQUIPMENT may contain multiple VIRTUAL TERMINALs.

Due to discussion in tCons documented in Ticket [#42], the XOR is not suitable. Thus, I propose the following minor change (removing the "either") and an additional note:

A VIRTUAL TERMINAL is an abstraction that represents the properties (including settings, measurements, calculations, etc.) of an ACTIVE ACCESSORY or an ACTIVE OUTPUT TERMINAL of an HF SURGICAL EQUIPMENT. A VIRTUAL TERMINAL is represented as a VMD in the CONTAINMENT TREE. The network representation of an HF SURGICAL EQUIPMENT may contain multiple VIRTUAL TERMINALs.

Note - In some properties, cases, or functionalities, the VIRTUAL TERMINAL might cover aspects of both, ACTIVE ACCESSORY and ACTIVE OUTPUT TERMINAL.

Due to discussions at IEEE 11073 PoCD WGM 25.09.2020:
"(including settings, measurements, calculations, etc.)" added.
