Creation of PocketWallet

On December 1, 2001 work began on PocketWallet, a personal finance manager for Linux systems. PocketWallet will provide an easy-to-use application for managing bank accounts, credit card transactions, and investments.

PocketWallet is optimized for use on handheld Linux-compatible devices, such as the Compaq iPaq and Sharp Zaurus. It is written using the Qt Embedded library. Initially, version 2.3.x of Qt/E will be used. The inital release will be targeted for use within the Qtopia environment, an interface designed for handheld devices by Trolltech. It is submitted as part of Trolltech's developer contest. However, PocketWallet will later be moved to become part of the OnyxPDA project. OnyxPDA aims to create a fully-customizable, business-quality graphical interface for handheld devices. It is built on Qt Embedded 3.x, and will contain several bundled utilities and applications.
