David:  I am a semi-retired attorney (and retired diplomat!) who is attempting to build your Pocket Linux utilizing your Guide.  Things have gone fairly well (with a few temporary setbacks) to the end of Chapter 2, where I have failed to load the kernel onto the floppy disk.  (The error message claims there is a file missing.)  Whenever I have heretofore had problems, I've solved them by referring to your instructions and following them more precisely (or improvising as appropriate).  (I have not so far found the forum all that useful; it's terribly sparse, not apparently up to the standards of other linux forums (in my opinion)).  Anyway, where I have found a significant gap in your instructions is the (in my view) inadequate guidance for building the kernel.  You refer us to Ms. Kwan's excellent and relatively comprehensive site, but we are really left out there on our own, even though you give a list of features to be included in the build.  But there are so many other features which can be included or excluded, that I found myself at sea as to which to choose or skip.   And I suspect the missing file was due to my not having included some feature in the kernel build.  Is there any way for me to be provided a sample, basic kernel build that will contain the minimum necessary for me to get past my current sticking point?
