I am using a 2.6 kernel and i have followed instructions installing grub and the kernel. The floppy boots and I can instruct grub to load the kernel but it does not ask for the second disk and just gets a kernel panic. Any ideas why I am using the grub line from the document

Does the kernel have support for floppy built in? If floppy support is not there, the root disk will not load. The kernel disk will load just fine though since GRUB uses BIOS calls to do it.
