Hint: fix your e-mail client. Here's what it looks like to those of us using "historical" clients: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 SGkgR3JlZywNCg0KICAgICAgICAgICAgDQoNCkkgYWxyZWFkeSBwb3N0ZWQgdGhlIGZvbGxv d2luZyBxdWVyeSB0byBwbmctbW5nLWltcGxlbWVudCBhbmQNCnBuZy1tbmctbWlzYy4gQnV0 IEkgZGlkbid0IGdldCBhbnkgcmVzcG9uc2UuIENvdWxkIHlvdSBwbGVhc2UgY2xhcmlmeQ0K dGhlIGRvdWJ0PyBEaWQgSSBwb3N0IHRvIHdyb25nIGdyb3VwPw0KDQogDQoNCiAgICAgICAg [...] Now if your message actually NEEDED base64-encoding, that would be one thing. But you're explicitly sending text/plain in US-ASCII! There is absolutely no benefit whatsoever to encoding that. In fact, it bloats the message size by 30%, and obviously it gets ignored by a lot of the folks on this list... If you must use a transfer-encoding, at least go with 8bit or quoted-printable. A handful of untranslated characters is far preferable to an entire message of them. Thanks, Greg |
