#63 Customizable Item (for customising a computer system)

I really need a way of making an item which the user
can modify, it is for a customised computer so the user
would need to be able to choose from multiple "sub-
items" then be presented with a final product.

What I need the user to be able to do is to select a
Custom Built Computer item then just choose from a
series of drop-down menus (or whatever) the
components then be presented with a price for the final
product.

At the moment I am using a system where I have a
seperate category for Custom Built Computers and a
series of sub-categories for the components groups (see
www.valuecomputers.co.uk) however I have recieved e-
mails telling me this is too complicated.

Well it's possible if you rewrite the userfrontend, but this
is a lot of work and will not be included in the next time.
It's just too complicated and overkill for the most shops.
I would suggest to create a new userfrontend with all the
stuff that calls the normal userapi functions in the back
