* How are you using PMD? Is it a VS Code plugin or as external tool?
There is a PMD Apex plugin for VS Code:

Are you using this plugin?
* Which programming language are you using? Java, Apex, anything else?
* Which problem do you get? How far are you with setting up PMD? What
did you already try? "...not able to setup the PMD" is a little vague
