Pmd is throwing a NullPointerException when trying to apply ConsecutiveLiteralAppendsRule. Have built 5.3.4 snapshot from source and same error still exists. Suppressing the rule on the file in question using annotation doesnt work either.

    Hi,
    thanks for testing. From the stacktrace, it looks like, you built PMD from the master branch - however, the bugfix is only on the pmd/5.3.x branch. I didn't merge it to master yet.

    I setup a CI build for the branch. Could you please try again taking the binary from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pmd/files/pmd/5.3.4-SNAPSHOT/

    Apologies, I didn't notice it wasn't in master branch yet. Have tested again with 5.3.4-SNAPHOT from the link you supplied above and indeed it all works correctly. many thanks for the quick reply :)
