[Plplot-devel] configure "fails" on dec/OSF

Hi,

After configure and "make dist" on a linux system, unpacking on a 
alphaev6-dec-osf4.0f and running configure gives this error:

...
checking for gcc option to accept ANSI C... none needed
checking build system type... ./config.guess: umask: `7077' is not an 
octal number from 000 to 777
config.guess: cannot create /tmp/config-guess-28457
alphaev6-dec-osf4.0f
...

But configure continues and finish. Is this error part of configure 
attempt to detect the system it is running on?
