As I understand Geoff and Maurice's posts on this issue, we no longer accomodate our Makefiles to account for everybody's different variations of the make command. Instead, our policy (which I will state in the release notes so everybody is clear about this ) is we demand our users use Gnu make. So each of our non-Linux users will be faced with exactly your situation on OSF1, and the solution for them is to download Gnu make and install and use it. I am glad it seems to be working well on OSF1. Alan |
