Done. See <https://github.com/Alexpux/MINGW-packages/issues/4830>. My last bug report to the MinGW-w64/MSYS2 developers got addressed late last year with a fix that was rolled out in a timely way. So this project appears to be responsive to bug reports (as opposed to ignoring them like some projects do) so I hope to hear soon from them whether they decide to go along with this suggestion or not.
