These are discrete colours (as opposed to continuous) so it is simply a matter of setting up the PLplot discrete colour mapping (cmap0) correctly. Likely the simplest way of doing that is what was used for page 1 of example 16, namely a call to plspal0( "cmap0_black_on_white.pal" ); "cmap0_black_on_white.pal" is one of our useful internal cmap0 colour style files, but you can also make and use your own such file.
