Actually, if you can read German and are curious about what PLplot looked like two (!) decades ago, I did find that broken link on the internet archive, <http://web.archive.org/web/20020624083333/www.linux-magazin.de/ausgabe/1996/12/Plplot/plplot.html>. But that is clearly not our preferred citation, and I do plan to remove that broken link from our documentation and not replace it with the internet archive version.
