[Plplot-general] Font errors under MacOS 10.4.7

I installed Plplot (version 5.6.1) for the Mac several months ago  
onto my Intel MacBook Pro using the Fink installer. It works fine,  
except that if I try to save a plot in either PNG, GIF or JPEG  
formats I get a series of warnings (see below) related to various  
fonts, followed by an error. If I look at the plot file that was  
produced, then there are only axes present, but no plot or labeling.  
Any suggestions as to how to fix this problem.
