Hi Alan,

The same error occured indeed with the release version 5.3.1. Apple 
released new dev tools (including an updated gcc) a while ago, and 
there have been reports on the fink list that compilation of some 
programs are effected by it. I wil look into this further and discuss 
it on the fink mailinglist. When I know more I will let you know.
