Added four pairs of AC_MSG_CHECKING/AC_MSG_RESULT for some Octave
configuration variables (version, prefix, m_dir, and oct_dir).  

It is nice to have a more verbose configure log, but the reason for this
change is to help me understanding why the Debian build daemon fails for
some exotic architectures (hppa and powerpc) when checking the Octave
configuration.
