I know this is an embarrassingly simple fix, but I simply started using Plot Digitizer version 2.6.1.
I run Linux Mint 14, and until today I had no trouble running Plot Digitizer (version 2.6.2, I think this was the newest when I downloaded it). However, I believe I changed my mind about which picture to digitize and prematurely closed it. That was a mistake; I spent an hour or two searching for a solution. I found this:
But there was no solution there. Although I tried a bunch more complex fixes which did not work out (including re-installing 2.6.2, upgrading to 2.6.3, and the fix mentioned at the link above), simply switching to version 2.6.1 seems to have done the trick. The only catch is that a "recent picture" will not open correctly. However, browsing to the picture works fine. Since I rarely open a picture more than once, doing it the "old-fashioned way" is fine by me.
