When looking at the PLM ID information and examinig the
filter results
in the status column, the only possible results are
PASS and FAIL. The
link to the reults file for the filter is a great idea,
but the label of the
link needs some rethinking.
In the event of a patch applies check, PASS and FAIL
are perfect
descriptions. However, for results of compile builds,
PASS and FAIL
are not meaningful and could confuse the reader of the
status page.
For compile results, it may be appropriate to provide
better names
for the links. Examples could be Compile Completed and
Compile
Not Successful. As it is now, if any compile filter
resulted in any
error, a FAIL status is provided. This has confused
some people
in the past; they thought the compiler failed.
However, the compile
actualy completed, but the kernel had some errors and
warnings.
When other (non compile) filters are applied, then PASS
and FAIL
may not be descriptive for the results of those tools.
For instance, if
a LINT filter was used, what would a FAIL mean? What
would a PASS
mean?
It will be necessary to add additional descriptive
links to indicated the
completion status of filters that exercise the code.
