  1. When trading and you dont have a resource it would be nice to have a second button, saying I dont have that resource, instead of always saying no to trades.

  2. When trading it would be nice as both the player offering the trade to say I want x resource and will offer 1,2,3,4 of x,y, or z resource. eg - I require 1 ore, i am offering 1 corn, and 1 sheep.

  3. When the current player offers a trade, but you dont have the resource, it would be great to offer a different resource instead. ie - player wants ore, for a lumber, but you dont have any lumber bout would like to offer 1 or 2 grain instead.

I think the trading system needs an overhaul.

This is my proposal for the trade system.

The current player can request a trade specifying the resources and amounts. With this he should be able to trade 1 wool, 1 ore, for a one wheat.

The other players can offer the requested trade, modify it, or reject it.
The other players can also offer a trade even when a request has not been made.
The same player may make multiple offers to the current player, though
there probably should be a maximum of three, just to reduce spamming someone with them.

The current player can accept or reject an offer.
When an offer is accepted and the trade takes place.

I also think the trading should take place with the map in view, and not in a separate tab. This will also make the offers visible even though the current player did not request anything.

In reply to the original request:
    1) That's why you have the chat functionality
    2) Also, use the chat functionality.
    3) Use the chat functionality
When playing live, a discussion is always required before closing the deal.

    In reply to Micah's answer:
The current choice is: the initiator of the trade only specifies the types of resource, the other players decide by which amounts they want to trade. The initiator can accept the offers
The other choice is: the initiator fully specifies the trade and the other players decide whether they want it or not.

In my experience, the current situation matches what actually happens during a live game.

My experience in live games is different. Usually the initiator gives the exact amounts he wants. By default this is one resource for one resource.

The chat system allows for these trades, but it would be nice to have it built in. This would make trades easier and the ai could participate as well.

Since the trade system and chat system combined implements this, it works for now, I think it should be a lower priority.

I have to agree, I would love it built in, as I've played many public games and often have people who either don't speak English, or wont type...
