I followed the readme file (pimp3.py -r, -m, -p) and things went dandy until I got to the command line:

1-5 -change the current mp3's value to the number entered

I know nothing of Python but I am a programmer, so you don't have to give me idiot instructions. :) Please tell me what info you need from to track this down.
It looks like your playlist is empty (wild, off the cuff guess - I don't have the code here in front of me).
You could add the line:
print "playfrom =", playfrom, "playto =", playto
just before the 'random' statement in line 231 in play.py and see what values are printed. The program will probably still die but you will have the 'debugging' printout.
