Hello everyone, I've set up a new mailing list for DB: 'pilot-db-bugs'. If you could direct bug reports to this list it will hopefully keep them from getting lost amongst the other postings on pilot-db-list. Thanks, -Scott |

Hi all and especially developers of Pilot-DB, There is usually some overlapping between the functions of a database and e.g. a spreadsheet: Simple database tasks can be done using a spreadsheet and simple spreadsheet tasks can be done using a database. But there's enough tasks left where a coupling between them would be nice. AFAIK up to now all applications and programming environments on the palm supply their own data storage facilities and databases (like pilot-db) try to supply programming facilities. So what about providing a (hig level) programming api on the Palm to enable other (Palm-) applications and first of all programming environments (for example SmallBasic) to access (pilot-db) databases. Ofcouse the developers of those other applications need to be invited to join, so which should be addressed? See you, Uwe |

I've installed X-Master and the Swiz fonts on my Clie SL10, and get very attractive small fonts on all my other applications except Pilot-DB, where I get very blocky fonts, and in one case a really ugly all-caps font. Varying the Clie central and Pilot-DB internal Hi-Res settings makes no difference. Can anyone tell what display fonts Pilot-DB uses, and how I can substitute them? Thanks John |

Using pilot-link 0.11.5, on RH8.0 I installed db-standard.prc to a Palm 505. Launching DB raises the error message " Mathlib support disabled". Then the Palm crashes and reboots successfully. Uninstalled DB-standard and tried DB version 1.0.3. This also usually crashed except that on one occasion I was permitted to start creating a database. However, I was never able to open it. The Palm would crash. Help would be appreciated. -- Robert March St Andrew's House L'Orignal ON K0B 1K0 |

Its what is used when an appropriate record can't be found. In this case, that should only be for the very first record in the sorted order. So it seems like the only problem may be that this script will never allow you to reset to -80 once you get paid....If that's important, an extra field might be necessary... -Scott |

I currently have a calculated field in my Overtime Database that keeps track of my overtime at my client. Basically I have the 2nd field added to the privious total to have a running total. I only get paid once I go over 80 hrs of overtime so I wanted to start my total at -80. How would I do that? The way mine currently works is by "(sort 0 1)(+ %1(ffr 2-1 0))". I tried putting it like this "(sort 0 1)(+ %1(ffr 2-1 0)-80)". But that minused 80 to ever value so after the first couple weeks I had like -640 hrs of overtime.;-) Any Help would be appreciated. Sure, A 'Float' is a number, like an integer, but it can contain a decimal point. Integers are restricted to {...,-5,-4,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,4... } Whereas floats describe a much larger set of numbers (1.23, .00023, 1000.245323, etc). Both Integers and Floats have specific MAXIMUM and MINIMUM values, if these values are violated, odd things will happen (such as a very large integer becoming very small, or negative). Hope this helps, -Scott > Hallo, > > can you help me to understand the Typ "Float" in the Program Pilot-db??? > > I come from Germany, my english isn't good > > > Thanks > > Karl > -- |

Hi, I've just updated the WebSite to include the new Freeware MS Windows Pilot-DB Editor which is based on the pilot-db tools written by Raphael Fetzer http://www.jakewalk.de/ - just a few days old and already very, very nice, in my opinion! Thanks a lot, Raphael!! Many people (including myself) were waiting for this! You will find it in the new News section at the top of the main page, on the main page itself and on the links page. Please let me know if you like the news section or if I should remove it! Hans |

What about http://jpilot-db.sourceforge.net There's a gui and command line utilities all done in Java. I'd like help if anyone is interested. Mostly I need feedback. I started doing MDI type application like Microsoft Access for accessing PDB files. But I think maybe I should go to a simpler interface. All feedback or feature requests would be appreciated. Even if you think I should just shut down the project, ANY feedback is appreciated. Trever M. The current release of pilot-db-tools is pretty much crocked if you aren't on a Windows platform. I used the 0.3.1 release, and that built and worked just fine on BSD. <mike ------------------- Thanks Mike, you're suggestion just worked! only it's 0.3.1 but it's ok, at least it's working :) ------------------- sed. It has a nice gui known as xterm. :) --Hal ------------------- :) ------------------- Put this .el in your emacs site-lisp and add (require 'eol-conversion) to your .emacs. You'll get a "End of line conversion" entry on the edit menu. Pedro Pessoa ------------------- uhh, I have emacs installed but I can't seem to find the .emacs file, tried locate and it seems to be missing. emacs site-lisp?, is that a plugin for emacs? I've been used to vi ;) so I never tried emacs before. Thanks for the help :) Elijah |
