Sorry to bother you, but I can't seem to find the information I need anywhere. Can you tell me how to create a global script for Pilot-DB? Does it go into some separate file? Do global scripts have a specific file extention? All that I would like to do is sort 2 columns using a view. (sort 1 1 3 1) I hope that this means sort the second column ascending primary and the forth column ascending secondary. Thank You, Tom Kendig |

Dear Sirs, I thought that the following news might interest you. I've just released a new version of my DbConvert and FNProg2PDA freeware tools to support the Pilot-DB. The tools are written in Java and can be downloaded from the FNProg2PDA Yahoo user group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fnprog2pda/ DBConvert is a database conversion tool that converts a JFile-, List-, MobileDB-, Pilot-DB PDA database or a MS-Excel spreadsheet to a HanDBase, JFile, List, MobileDB, Casio P.Referencer, SmartList To Go database, MS-Excel spreadsheet or a user-definable text file. FNProg2PDA is an add-on tool for the FNProgramvare software (http://www.fnprg.com) to transfer data from the FNprogramvare databases (for books, CD's, LP's, video's, DVD's, software or stamp collections) to a Palm, Pocket PC or Casio Pocket Viewer database, a MS-Excel spreadsheet or user-definable text file. Best regards, Tom van Breukelen. |

Hello, as far as I know nothing like this is implemented. You, depending on the situation, perhaps could use programs that password-protect the whole programm (or even palm) or that encrypt the database. I hope I at least could help you a bit, Greetings, Fabian On Tue, 14 Mar 2006 16:45:22 -0500 "J. Dear mailinglist, My database design for an overtime calculation: Field 0: date -> Date Field 1: hour -> float Field 2: reason -> string Field 3: total -> calculated - should add all hours from all records So I would like to add together field 1 and field 3 from the last record, if there is one, or alternatively add together field 1 from all records. I tried (+ %1 (ffr -1 3)), which gives me an "bad argument" error message, and (+ %1 (ffr 1 3)), which gives me an "Improper IR script" error, certainly because I have to sort first, but trying to sort gave me errors, too, and what should I sort here? In other words, I'm stuck, although I have carefully read the documentation. Could someone give me a hint, please? Thanks for any reply, Mark |

I am trying to convert my .pdb files to .csv. I have the latest versions of Pilot-DB (v1.1.3) and the latest version of the tools (v0.3.3). I get an error message: corrupt header. I tried the DBEditor and got the same error message. I am using Virtual PC on a Mac. All the database files work fine on the Palm. Any ideas??? Thanks, Greg |

Hi folks, some questions concerning scripts and time fields: 1. is there a scriptlength limitation ? I am trying to set up an calculated field, which evaluates the diff of two or more time fields. The script seems to expand a "virtual length".... 2. May a calculated field be used as input for another calculated field ? I always receive an error message when i try anything alike. 3. May a script call another script ? 4. Is there any application available (either Win or Unix) which is aware of calculated, duration fields ? My actual approach to calculate the time diff looks like : (? (seq %4 HA)(dur (-(int %2)(int %1)))(dur(- (int %2)(int %1)30))) I would like to expand this calculation ..... but no way...!! Friday, January 20, 2006 Dear Pilot-DB users, I had version 1.1.0 installed, and it had some nice icons for creating new entries, a button for duplicating, etc. But I installed 1.1.3, and now the icons are replaced by buttons, and the "duplicate" function can only be accessed by the main menu. Is that the standard for version 1.1.3? Regards, Michael A. Lees mic...@ma... |

Friday, January 20, 2006, 10:56 Dear all, I have Pilot-DB 1.1.3 on my old Palm m105, working fine for years. I have successful created databases that use script/calculations. I created a database for logging daily events: Field 0: Date (default = current) Field 1: Time (default = current) Field 2: Note In order to have dates and times sorted correctly, I had to change the config of my Palm to display dates as YY/MM/DD. (Or else, it would sort months as 1,10,11,12,2,3,4... ). ANyway, I want to create a filter to view only TODAY'S info. SO I created a Global Scritp with the following function: (eq (int %0)(int (gcd))) That is: if the date in column 1 (%0) equals the current date (gcd)... ...But when I type it in to a new Global Script, Pilot-DB says "Invalid Initialization". It does work, however, if I put it in a Calculated field (returning 0 or 1, for False or True). How must a Global Script initialize? How can I make a filter to view only the information for the current date? Where can I find documentation about Global Scripts? (documentation at SourceForge is from 2002 and doesn't have Global Scripts). Regards, Michael A. Lees mic...@ma... ------------------- ICQ: 2977164 MSN: mic...@ma... www.miranda-im.com |

Hello, the list seems to be kind of dead sometimes. Sorry for late replying. I don't know what possibilities there are, but perhaps you could export it to Memo-files (is this supported?) and print them or print the databases on your desktop pc/laptop. There might be a better solution but I don't know any. Is there perhaps anything about printing (perhaps a litte hidden) on the webpage or in one of the text files included in one of the packed files you can download on the page? Hi there, I recently came across PilotDB and actually I am quite fond of it. However, I came across one problem: I would like to use the content of a "linked" field in a script. Sadly, DB simply does tell me that the fields were of the wrong argument type for multiplication. I've noticed the feature request on source-forge and would like to give it a "bump". Is there any way to speed up development (aside from coding which I really am not good at)? Or is there a clever workaround? Regards (and thanks for the nice db), Bernhard |

Hi there guys! I'm trying to get a price book up for work here... I'm working with a large (2 Meg) CSV file which I imported and successfully can use on DB on my palm... The problem I'm runing into is that I need to be able to select a "category" and that will bring me to the first record in that category. Each category is contained within a separate cell for each record (a separate cell on each row). First, I sorted by Category. Then, I created a seperate database called "Index to..." and copied the list of unique categories into it. Then I set the category column in the main file to "linked" and the category column in the index file to "link" with a link to the main file. I sync with my palm, click on the category I want within the index and it says it can't find the item. Even when I try to reopen the file with the DB-Editor windows app, it says it "The file this database is linked to couldn't be found". First of all, am I going about this an appropriate way to make it work this way? Second, why can't I link these files? Do I just misunderstand how the linking stuff works? Thanks! Shaun |

Hi Mathieu, I found the jpilot-db-1.3.17-ej.jar on the site of Trevor (on sourceforge it stops at version 1.3.15-ej.jar). After download i tried it on my G4 at work: it works fine on OSX (and even faster than the 1.3.15 version!) Do you have the latest Java-distribution for your Debian-system???? If you encounter any problems: contact Trevor. He will ask a copy of your db-pilot files in the backup folder of your PalmOs pda. with me it was not the application itself, but the db-pilot files in my backup folder, wich needed some repair or so. greetings dirk Mathieu Allard <ma...@op...> wrote: >On Sunday 27 November 2005 04:44 pm, you wrote: >Hi Dirk, >Thanks for the suggestion. >I have tried to run the java application on my debian system and I am getting >errors. >Please see below. >Any suggestions would be welcome. >Regards, >Mathieu Allard >-- >[mathieu@algaria]~$ java -jar jpilot-db-1.3.17-ej.jar > >** ERROR **: >file ../../../src/libjava/jni/gtk-peer/gnu_java_awt_peer_gtk_GtkImage.c: line >572 (createRawData): assertion failed: (data_fid != 0) >aborting... >zsh: abort java -jar jpilot-db-1.3.17-ej.jar >-- > >> Why don't you use de java program JPilot?? >> >> already compiled on sourceforge >> >> On my OSX iBook it works fine >> >> dirk >> >> Mathieu Allard <ma...@op...> wrote: >> >On Saturday 26 November 2005 08:29 pm, Fabian Stelter wrote: >> >Hi, >> >I was unable to find precompiled binaries for my Linux system. >> >Please let me know where I could find them if these exist. >> >Thanks, >> >Mathieu Allard >> > >> >> Hello, >> >> >> >> I dont't know how active this list still is. >> >> But why don't you use the already compiled version? >> >> >> >> Greetings from Germany, >> >> >> >> Fabian >> >> >> >> ma...@op... schrieb am 26.11.05 23:49:13: >> >> > On Saturday 26 November 2005 04:33 pm, >> >> > pil...@li... wrote: >> >> > Hello, >> >> > I'm having trouble compiling palm-db-tools-0_3_6.tar.gz on debian >> >> > unstable. ./configure completes successfully however, I'm having >> >> > errors at make time. Hello all, I did not try compiling this recently, but had no problem last time I tried. I also have a patch (waiting to be integrated some day when I have time) that helps keep filters/scripts. You can get my binaries from: Original sources: <http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/~didi/palm-db-tools-0.3.6-bin.tar.gz> Patched: <http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/~didi/palm-db-tools-0.3.6-my2-bin.tar.gz> The patch itself: <http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/~didi/palm-db-tools-with-filters-and-scripts.patch> -- Didi |
