Dear Cabal,

I made an offer to Hylke and he's glad to help us out. He's started
some smiley and emblem icons and gave me a taste:

The proposed idea, as seen in his previous mockup, is to change the
status icon from "protocol icon with status icon and up to three other
emblems superimposed on it" to "status icon to the left, up to three
emblems to the right, immediately left of the buddy icon.

I'm very open to this suggestion. When we have enough icons to
actually implement this, I'll code it up and see what you guys think
of it.

I'm not opposed to this idea (I'll wait until I see it for real for 
that), but I am worried that using emblems like that will cause more 
truncation (of both the name and the away message) than we really want.

But I do like the icons :-)

Look at your buddy list. Count how many people have even a single
non-status emblem. Consider that our blist layout currently allows us
to "overlap" columns. That is, having emblems to the right won't
truncate people who don't have emblems.

I misread, I thought all emblems (including away/dnd/etc) were going to 
the right.  After carefully re-reading, now my response just sounds dumb.
