If the user is getting info, they have requested a new dialog. Thus the popup itself is not really a problem. The problem, as I see it, is the delay. Because the error is not immediate, the user no longer has the clear association between having requested info and seeing a new dialog. The error, or the info, then, in a sense, "pops up." If however, we displayed the info dialog immediately, there would be no reason to even CONSIDER putting the error, if any, in the buddy list. Rather, we'd display the error to the info window, just as we display conversation errors to the conversation tab. I think this would be superior. luke |
