People seemed pretty happy to hide the per-protocol selectors themselves. Most of the complaints I saw on #gaim seemed to be about the global status selector. I reckon these would go away if: 1 the spacing around the combo was eliminated 2 the spacing around the icon in the combo was reduced 3 the text box was halved in size 4 Ideally I'd also change it so that once it was set the status message would appear on the combo like the disconnect messages, so that the textbox could be hidden altogether. 1 and 3 are trivial 1-line changes - I'll write a patch if it's likely to be accepted. I can't see how to do 2 or 4 without actually reading the code Richard Korman <win...@gm...> wrote: >Well, i've got a bit of a wierd idea, but i think it could work... >Y'see, what i'm envisioning is a sort of drawer that slides out after you >hover the mouse over the overall universal status. >At this point, it allows you to edit the message/status for whatever >protocol you like. >After which, when a certain amount of time has passed with no use of it, or >after you do something in the program not involving changing the status, it >will slide back down. > >Now that i htink about it, it's rather simple really. it's just automating >the process of resizing, making the per-protoc options become hidden till >needed. > >This seems like it could solve the complains about how much space the >per-proticol status section takes up, while still retaining the funtionality >of it. > >Oh, and it give s you an excuse to use one of those sexy looking effects. >After all, who doesn't like those. ;) > >I apologize if this post isnt conforming to some sort of criteria, i'm new >to the mailing-list concept. > __________________________________________________________________ Switch to Netscape Internet Service.
