It would be useful to know what protocol(s) you connect to, and which of them other people in your office are regularling using. For example, if you are connecting to AIM, yahoo, and MSN, but other people are only connecting to AIM, gaim will obviously use more bandwidth (esp since msn in particular is somewhat noisy). Another example of what could cause this is the prefetching gaim does. On AIM for example, we will fetch the away messages of people on your buddy list to display them in the tooltip. As other clients do not do this, this will create a disparity in the bandwidth usage gaim vrs others require. luke |
