One big thing he definately got right that I overlooked was focusing on the more common, and more simple (e.g. easier for the user to comprehend), problem of "Set all Away", or Set all blah. Usually I don't want to mess with setting accounts individually, although I might want to see what they got set to individually, to verify that my heavy hand worked as expected. Another thing I like about Sean's approch is the use of the dropdown menu, instead of having to right click (and just what would left clicking and double clicking do in the right click menu ideas?), although I'm not yet sure if I like the dropdown menu's arrow icon. Also I missed most of the IRC discussion, which was probably important. Someone might want to summerize on the list. Another question is how much nonstatus stuff should this status thing have? (For the expanded form showing individual accounts) Several people including myself have suggested involving account actions somehow. What about buddy icons? Lots of people can't find the place to set them currently, and having a way to view and set them on the buddy list might be nice. Setting the same buddy icon for all accounts at once might be nice too, especially since we scale and convert now, and possibly could be worked into the all at once form. OTHO, we might be losing focus, and cluttering things if we do any of this. It might be nice to toggle showing/hiding offline accounts for an indvidual account status view. As someone mentioned, login as invisible hasn't really been addressed yet. Neither have any status/privacy crossovers. --Tim |
