Hello again, everyone. After the flurry of discussion that my last post failed to incite, I've gone back to reread ESR's essay on how to ask questions the smart way, and I'm back to try again. I've hacked together a patch that adds a preference controlling whether a middle click pastes in plain text or HTML (the default). This was a kneejerk response to discovering that when I was copying and pasting text from a web page, formatting and links where being preserved in the new version of gaim, which is something I almost never want. So my question is, does anyone else want this patch? So far I have one "that sounds like something I'd use" and one "if you don't like it, hack the code yourself" (yeah, thanks) from the IRC channel. I've read some of the prefslash04 thread, and I'm a little nervous about it. I don't want to annoy anyone by proposing another checkbox to the preferences page right after so much work has gone into reducing preference clutter. Should I submit my patch? Wulph |
