Hi Bill, I am very unsatisfied with rpm packaging of gaim-encryption plugin. It really prevent spreading the plugin. There is my proposed rpm spec template at the end of the message. You can place it in the source or the contrib directory. The spec file is designed for the latest Fedora distribution but it should fit also the latest Redhat and several other rpm distributions. Please, consider making necessary changes to update the template via the configure script (version, changelog). Hi Bill, Davy and others, I have tested my own Win32 build of the 2.33cvs version with Gaim 1.1.1. There have not been any troubles so far. I think that the key deletition should be confirmed by the user in another question dialog. Have you ever seen someone sleeping on the keyboard? :) The full key cache could be deleted by several unintentional keystrokes or clicks. The uninstall section of the gaim-encryption-installer.nsi is missing several locales (cs,hu,ru,zh_TW). I have changed this part of the script to be more dynamic with linguas array delimited by a space. The script deletes only our files so that the main Gaim resists damaged. But the Gaim NSIS script is very destructive and deletes the full locales tree: RMDir /r "$INSTDIR\locale". Maybe you could ask Gaim developers to change it so that our installation would survive Gaim reinstallations. The proposed changes for the gaim-encryption-installer.nsi follows. The script is a little commented so that anyone could step it through. --- snip ---- cont_uninstall: ; plugin Delete "$INSTDIR\plugins\encrypt.dll" RMDir "$INSTDIR\plugins" ; all locales Push $R0 ;save old values Push $R1 Push $R2 Push "cs da de es fr hu it ja nl pl pt_BR ru sl zh_TW" Pop $R0 ;initialize input array alllinguas: StrLen $R1 $R0 ;length of input array IntCmp $R1 0 alldone IntOp $R1 $R1 + 1 uptodelimiter: IntOp $R1 $R1 - 1 IntCmp $R1 0 fullof fullof StrCpy $R2 $R0 1 -$R1 StrCmp $R2 "" fullof StrCmp $R2 " " partof Goto uptodelimiter partof: StrCpy $R2 $R0 -$R1 IntOp $R1 $R1 - 1 StrCpy $R0 $R0 "" -$R1 Goto dodelwork fullof: StrCpy $R2 $R0 StrCpy $R0 "" dodelwork: StrCpy $R1 "$INSTDIR\locale" Push $R1 StrCpy $R1 "$R1\$R2" Push $R1 StrCpy $R1 "$R1\LC_MESSAGES" Delete "$R1\gaim-encryption.mo" RMDir $R1 Pop $R1 RMDir $R1 Pop $R1 RMDir $R1 Goto alllinguas alldone: Pop $R2 ;restore old values Pop $R1 Pop $R0 ; uninstaller shortcut Delete "$SMPROGRAMS\Gaim\Gaim-Encryption Uninstall.lnk" RMDir "$SMPROGRAMS\Gaim" ; uninstaller Delete "$INSTDIR\${GAIM_ENCRYPTION_UNINST_EXE}" ; and the Gaim root, in case it has already uninstalled RMDir "$INSTDIR" Goto done cant_uninstall: --- snip ---- Lubos |

I > receive plenty of mail already. With Gaim, I am on only gaim-i18n, not > gaim-devel. As Davy mentioned, I didn't create multiple lists simply because I expect the list to be very low volume. As a (mostly) one-person project, there isn't a lot of purely "Devel" traffic. I'd toyed with the idea of making the usual "-announce", "-devel", "-i18n", lists, but for a project of this small scope, that seemed like overkill. For what it is worth, the only current subscribers to the list are the translators (although some of these are programmers/patch-submitters as well). In any event, if the non-i18n traffic is large enough to discourage translators from signing up, I'd take that as a sign that a separate -i18n list is needed. So, if you feel that way (and this goes for all the translators on the cc: as well), please let me know. Thanks, -Bill |

I haven't been keeping up-to-date on Gaim CVS, but my impression is that most development now is in the 2.0 branch. I'm guessing that this is corresponds to the current CVS head, but I'm not sure. The 1.0 branch has had a fairly stable API, so I've just been building against the 1.x releases as they come out. A tag of v1_1_0 is presumably the same as the 1.1.0 release (found using http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/gaim/gaim/ ). If the Gaim CVS corresponding to the 1.x branch doesn't build with Gaim-Encryption, let me know and I'll take a peek at it. -Bill On Mon, 2004-12-20 at 13:28 +0100, Menno Jonkers wrote: > Hi lads, > > I'm trying to compile the CVS version of Gaim-encryption against the CVS > version of Gaim, but these seem to be out of sync. Hi lads, I'm trying to compile the CVS version of Gaim-encryption against the CVS version of Gaim, but these seem to be out of sync. Any clues on what date/tag of Gaim I should take to match current Gaim-encryption? Cheers, Menno - keep in touch with the Dutch - J |

Hi gentlemen! I'm very proud to publish the first Russian translation of the Gaim-Encryption plugin. It is provided by my colleague Roman Sosenko (a Ukrainian guy), with my technical help. He's not a I.T man but he knows lots of languages (Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, French and English). He's interessed in doing a Ukrainian translation, but he has to translate gaim too, so it's a longuer work... Bye |

Hi all, Davy told me to subscribe this mailing list. That's why I am here. Sorry for late days because I heard I will lost my work after last happy weekend. However, that will not effect my job about translating gaim-encryption for zh_TW.po. I know Bill added 5 new strings. I will sync source from CVS tomorrow and update my translated zh_TW.po. Anyway, glad to join this work. --- Tim Hsu |

There are some changes to the UI that I'd like to get out in a release, so I'm declaring a feature freeze. No more updates to translation strings before the next release, I promise. Speaking of which, 6 strings did get changed/added, so updated .po files would be welcomed. I'll be out for the next week, though, so there's no big rush on those. Feel free to test the current CVS, especially the preferences dialogs. Davy: it looks like only Takeshi, Giacomo, Karim, and Martin are on this list, so I'll let you bug the others for updates. Hi all! I have updated the Czech translation files for the upcoming release. Feel free to update your CVS tree copy with my files. The "Delete Key" button action should ask for confirmation before the=20 deletion. Lubo=B9 P.S.: I do not know whether I can post binary attachements to the=20 mailing list. If I cannot, look for included text files in the next messa= ge. |

Thanks guys, -Bill |
