Based on this statement of Reini's, I have hade better success: "You cannot just run the whole SQL schema file. Look at the content of the file and the also existing mysql sql update file= and add the tables and columns you are missing by hand. phpwiki's error messages give you all the information that you are missing.= " This statement needs to be added to the distro docs. I am now to the point that I am getting a phpwiki page http://hawsedc.constructionnotesmanager.com/pwnew/index.php/HomePage?action= =3Dupgrade with this error check for mysql LOCK TABLE privilege ...lock_tables_priv missing. The DB Admin must run mysql_fix_privilege_tables I tried to run mysql_fix_privilege_tables, but I couldn't. I tried to get my host, Jaguarpc, to run it, but they said: "I have tried the command you have provided with the root access but the command is not getting through." Any ideas where I can go from here? Tom |

I apologize for taking all the time I have on the list, but I had phpwiki working for a long time, and I relied on it for various uses. I would really like now to get it installed again (any version) and port my old pages to it. Please don't give up on me. Here are the facts: Previous phpwiki version: 1.3.7 Form of previous pages: mysql table only (no phpwiki dump) Current system: Jaguarpc web hosting server running php5 and mysql5. Jaguarpc is a very generic Linux host. Please hold my hand as I do the following steps: 1. Choose a version 2. Install and choose a database system 3. Port my old pages from 1.3.7 If you will help me, I will document at the support wiki what I have done t= o get success. Thanks again, Tom Haws (not a new wiki user) |

That sounds attractive. Unfortunately I have been running previous version= s of phpWiki on mySQL for quite a while. I have only a few dozen pages in mySQL. I think its better that I get mySQL running again. Reini wrote: > If you use a SQL database you have to configure and initialize the > database. > There are some README's about that. Thanks, Reini. I had tried to run schema/mysql-initialize.sql on Saturday, but mySQL reported a Page Already Exists error and phpWiki?action=3Dupgrade continues not to work. If this can't work, I will go ahead and see if the old version in Fantastic= o will work with php5/mysql5 -- Tom Haws |

My Wiki is getting buried in spam. I am currently running 1.3.10. The spammers overwrite the complete page with a massive block of spam with several hundred links. In the Admin pages, the page is listed like this: CalendarPlugin/2010-02-01 April 4, 2006 3:50 pm deleted 18.2 k 0 The last author is actually listed as "deleted". I have been manually reverting pages, but it is becoming an almost daily occurrence. And the old spammy page revision still shows up in Page History, too. I am banning IP addresses, but that is essentially pointless. I have tried upgrading to 1.3.11, but it doesn't work. The wiki shows up blank. I even tried installing a new Wiki using 1.3.11, but the same thing happens. Is there some way to deny edits from anyone using the username of "deleted"? Is there any way to fight this other than closing the Wiki to anonymous edits? -- ARCOM Inc. 440.639.9500 http://www.arcm.com ---Excellence In Technical Communications--- |

Perhaps if you're just setting up a wiki for the first time and want to see it running quickly you could try the file based db. It's a little easier and quicker than the other methods if you just want to see your wiki up and running and try it out. Read the notes and it will tell you what you need to know about picking where the wiki saves to, and then making sure the apache (or whatever user runs the website) has write permission to that directory. If you use a SQL database you have to configure and initialize the database= . There are some README's about that. I am a bit embarrassed, but my wiki blues turned out to be largely self-inflicted. That said, I am still singing them, though I have made a lot of progress. To begin with, the correct URL is (sorry) http://hawsedc.com/phpwiki-1.3.12p2/index.php That url gives one error that seems to indicate I need to upgrade. But when I go to: http://hawsedc.com/phpwiki-1.3.12p2/index.php?action=3Dupgrade I get a tantalizing view of phpwiki, but it says, "*Missing PagePermission: change HomePage is disallowed on this wiki for not authenticated user ' 70.176.232.214' (level: ANON)." and * lib/WikiDB/backend/PearDB.php:1027: Error: WikiDB_backend_PearDB_mysql: fatal database error - DB Error: no such table - (INSERT INTO accesslog (time_stamp,remote_host,remote_user,request_method,request_line,request_= uri,request_args,request_time,status,bytes_sent,referer,agent,request_durat= ion) VALUES(1144122753,'ip70-176-232-214.ph.ph.cox.net','-','GET','GET /phpwiki-1.3.12p2/index.php?action=3Dupgrade HTTP/1.1','/phpwiki- 1.3.12p2/index.php?action=3Dupgrade','action=3Dupgrade','03/Apr/2006:23:= 52:33 -0400',200,0,'','Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv: 1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1','0.327347040176') [nativecode=3D1146 ** Table 'jconstru_phpwiki1.accesslog' doesn't exist]= ) So now I guess I am really close, but still broke. Yep that's broke allright. I have a wiki up and running with .12p2 and php 5.0.5 and file db. You mentioned in an earlier mail that setting register_globals=on for php is a workaround. Hi, The support email address is php...@li.... Some questions: You want a technical solution to prevent linking to photos with a commercial license? You want a technical solution to prevent linking to photos with a non-commercial license? You don't care about links to photos, regardless which license they have. Background: phpwiki has no technical solution (yet) to filter out any external links. content in wikis is mainly filtered out by humans, not by technical solutions. you can ask us for technical solutions, not for policies within your wiki visitors and editors. we don't care at all about any license restrictions in the content of your wiki, if commercial or non-commercial. you can choose whatever license you want for your content. just if you enhance your/our software (id est "a technical solution") we and any other user of your software would like to get the source of your enhancements. The phpwiki software is GNU licensed. if you have a closed usergroup, only this closed usergroup must be allowed to get the source for your technical solutions of the above mentioned problems. (link filter by license). more see below. 2006/3/27, York Date <ma...@yo...>: > Nice to meet you. We are York Date and Hiroshi Nishimura. > > Now we are using Wikia to do an online art project named Art Recipes. > > http://artrecipes.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page I see. mediawiki > But unfortunately, one of admins of Wikia asked us to use restraint in > putting a non-commercial only license photos to Wiki because Wikia is a > commercial company. It is the problem for us. I see. Tell him that this is technically almost not possible. anybody can link to anythink. BTW: strange policy. if wikia is a commercial company why do they want only restricted photos? anybody must follow copyrights. regardless if private or commercial content providers. within companies it would be much would easier to publish commercial material than for non-commercial publishers. hmm. you can restrict user access. then only a certain group of users may edit the content and add for example links to external photos. those users can sign a paper/contract/signin confirmation that they will link only to non-commercial licensed photos. problem solved by technical solution. see EDITING_POLICY in the themes/default/templates/signin.tmpl define EDITING_POLICY in config/config.ini as a pagename. EDITING_POLICY =3D SigninPage Make a new SigninPage with the license restrictions explained there. > We want to create profile pages as follows. > http://artrecipes.wikia.com/wiki/Jade > > So we are looking for a new wiki servise. > > And now, let us ask you a question. > > Art Recipes is an art project where people can provide insight into the > process of his/her artworks, and works closely with Flickr photogroup. > > If we use photos uploaded to Flickr photostream in Wikicities, what kind = of > copyright can we hold? any. you can decide. > Can we put photos that have non-commercial only license to Wiki? not yet. wikis prefer non-technical solutions over technical solutions. humans are better than machines. how to decide technically which license a photo has? for a possible solution see above. > Best Wishes. > York Date: ma...@yo... > Hiroshi Nishimura: nih...@ya... -- Reini Urban http://phpwiki.org/ http://spacemovie.mur.at/ http://helsinki.at/ |

I got a copy of php.ini, and that is already how it reads. Any other ideas? -- Tom Haws 480-201-5476 Try OpenOffice for free. I'll send you a CD. |

Just tried out the newest phpwiki Looks like many of the bugs here have been fixed http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/KnownBugs So I'm going to delete the ones I know have been fixed from the wiki page. My Setup *PHP 5.1.2-gentoo (cli) (built: Mar 22 2006 09:45:58) *phpwiki-1.3.12p2 *file db Only bug i have seen so far is during first page hit, loading up virgin wiki. Nope. This is enterily register_globals independent. This php 5 fatal should be solved by allow_call_time_pass_reference =3D On I thought I fixed all issues, but didn't test with php-5.1 lately > In perusing the support wiki, I see that somebody claims to have > installed with register_globals off. For the mysql versions I don't know it by hard. The bdb and innodb features whgiuch are supported by ADODB are not yet tested, and not implemented with PearDB_mysqlt. Non-transactional it should work. -- Reini Urban http://phpwiki.org/ http://spacemovie.mur.at/ http://helsinki.at/ |

The list has been very quiet. I guess that is a good thing. I installed version 1.3.12p2 on a remote PHP 5/MySQL 5 server and I can't get it to run. http://hawsedc.com/thomas I understand that this error phpwiki/lib/main.php:20: Fatal[2048]: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated is solved for the time being by setting register_globals on. In perusing the support wiki, I see that somebody claims to have installed with register_globals off. (That claim turned up on the Recent Changes page in a search for "register globals", but I couldn't find it on the Recent Changes page itself.) The question I have is how close you are to getting phpwiki fully (whatever that may mean) compliant with PHP 5 and MySQL 5. I have decided to just wait, and I am wondering if there will be some kind of announcement, or if there is some version number you are pushing toward for compliance. Thanks. |
