yes,
fix the db perms manually or let phpwiki do it for you.

See your config.ini compared to config-dist.ini
and add the appropriate DBADMIN user and password entries,

I am now to the point that I am getting a phpwiki page

DB Admin must run mysql_fix_privilege_tables

I tried to run mysql_fix_privilege_tables, but I couldn't.

I tried to get my host, Jaguarpc, to run it, but they said:
"I have tried the command you have provided with the root access but
the command is not getting through."

Any ideas where I can go from here?

You cannot just run the whole SQL schema file.
Look at the content of the file and the also existing mysql sql update file=
 and
add the tables and columns you are missing by hand.
phpwiki gave you already all the information what you are missing.

I apologize for taking all the time I have on the list, but I had phpwiki
working for a long time, and I relied on it for various uses.  I would
really like now to get it installed again (any version) and port my old
pages to it.  Please don't give up on me.

Here are the facts:

Previous phpwiki version: 1.3.7
Form of previous pages: mysql table only (no phpwiki dump)

Current system: Jaguarpc web hosting server running php5 and mysql5.
Jaguarpc is a very generic Linux host.

Please hold my hand as I do the following steps:

1. Choose a version
2.  Install and choose a database system
3.  Port my old pages from 1.3.7

If you will help me, I will document at the support wiki what I have done t=
o
get success.

That sounds attractive.  Unfortunately I have been running previous version=
s
of phpWiki on mySQL for quite a while.  I have only a few dozen pages in
mySQL.  I think its better that I get mySQL running again.

My Wiki is getting buried in spam. I am currently running 1.3.10.

The spammers overwrite the complete page with a massive block of spam with 
several hundred links. In the Admin pages, the page is listed like this:

  CalendarPlugin/2010-02-01   April 4, 2006 3:50 pm   deleted   18.2 k   0

The last author is actually listed as "deleted".

I have been manually reverting pages, but it is becoming an almost daily 
occurrence. And the old spammy page revision still shows up in Page History, 
too.

I am banning IP addresses, but that is essentially pointless. 

I have tried upgrading to 1.3.11, but it doesn't work. The wiki shows up blank. I 
even tried installing a new Wiki using 1.3.11, but the same thing happens.

Is there some way to deny edits from anyone using the username of "deleted"?

Is there any way to fight this other than closing the Wiki to anonymous edits?

Perhaps if you're just setting up a wiki for the first time and want to see
it running quickly you could try the file based db.  It's a little easier
and quicker than the other methods if you just want to see your wiki up and
running and try it out.   Read the notes and it will tell you what you need
to know about picking where the wiki saves to, and then making sure the
apache (or whatever user runs the website) has write permission to that
directory.

Yep that's broke allright.

I have a wiki up and running with .12p2 and php 5.0.5 and file db.
You mentioned in an earlier mail that setting   register_globals=on for php
is a workaround.
But I haven't needed that set with mine.

Does your wiki still work if you set that?

Background:
phpwiki has no technical solution (yet) to filter out any external
links. content in wikis is mainly filtered out by humans, not by
technical solutions.
you can ask us for technical solutions, not for policies within your
wiki visitors
and editors.

we don't care at all about any license restrictions in the content of
your wiki,
if commercial or non-commercial. you can choose whatever license you
want for your content. just if you enhance your/our software (id est
"a technical solution") we and any other user of your software would
like to get the source of your enhancements.
The phpwiki software is GNU licensed.

if you have a closed usergroup, only this closed usergroup must be
allowed to get the source for your technical solutions of the above
mentioned problems. (link filter by license).

BTW: strange policy. if wikia is a commercial company why do they want
only restricted photos? anybody must follow copyrights. regardless if
private or commercial content providers. within companies it would be
much would easier to publish commercial material than for
non-commercial publishers. hmm.

you can restrict user access.
then only a certain group of users may edit the content and add for
example links to external photos. those users can sign a
paper/contract/signin confirmation
that they will link only to non-commercial licensed photos. problem
solved by technical solution.
see EDITING_POLICY in the themes/default/templates/signin.tmpl
define EDITING_POLICY in config/config.ini as a pagename.

Make a new SigninPage with the license restrictions explained there.

is already set at my server, jaguarpc.com.  I got a copy of php.ini,

Just tried out the newest phpwiki

Looks like many of the bugs here have been fixed

So I'm going to delete the ones I know have been fixed from the wiki page.

My Setup

Only bug i have seen so far is during first page hit, loading up virgin
wiki.
This error appears at the bottom of the page.
I haven't seen any other problems yet.

Nope. This is enterily register_globals independent.
This php 5 fatal should be solved by allow_call_time_pass_reference =3D On
I thought I fixed all issues, but didn't test with php-5.1 lately

register_globals off is default for a long time now and I do all the
testing with register_globals off.

php-5.0 was tested ok. php-5.1 not fully tested.
For the mysql versions I don't know it by hard. The bdb and innodb
features whgiuch are supported by ADODB are not yet tested, and not
implemented with PearDB_mysqlt.
Non-transactional it should work.

I installed version 1.3.12p2 on a remote PHP 5/MySQL 5 server and I

decided to just wait, and I am wondering if there will be some kind of
announcement, or if there is some version number you are pushing

Ok,
Fighting bots which don't add more than 20 new links is hard, as
you cannot really decide if it's good or bad.
I suggest to block the spammers IP then in the apache conf file.

I suspect bots as the names of pages are always the same, like 
PucharWarszawy2003-10-19.
